GENERAL FLYING AND SAFETY RULES
- Flying Hours: Monday to Sunday 9:00am to 7:00pm
- No Flying on TOTAL FLYING BAN DAYS.
- No Smoking at the field except in your car.
- The consumption of alcohol by pilots is NOT permitted before or during the operation of aircraft as per CASA regulations. All pilots must have 0% blood alcohol level whilst in control of any RC aircraft and includes control line and free flight models. (MOP055)
- Members MUST sign-in on arrival and out on departure along with any visitors they bring.
- It is the responsibility of all club members to ensure visiting pilots have a current MAAA FAI card or proof of paid fees (their club receipt) within the current financial year and are fully conversant with the club flying rules, posted inside the club (clubhouse/container/noticeboard) and club registration/visitor’s book.
- Members and Visitors are to make themselves aware of location and use of fire extinguishers / Sand buckets / fire blanket in each Pilot box and fire cart in storage area.
- Persons without current MAAA Membership FAI card or their respective club receipt (proof of payment) are not permitted to operate model aircraft of any type. (Excluding persons having a try at model aircraft flying under MAAA visitor’s guidelines). (MOP042)
- All inexperienced flyers or visitors must be accompanied by an experienced & competent club member while operating any type of model. Until such time of achieving silver wings or above.
- Frequency board is to be always used if flying on 36 or 29 Mhz.
- Gold wings must be achieved before any pilot can fly turbine models.
- Club members will familiarise them self with (MOP056) Safe Flying Code.
- All pilots are to complete safety and pre-flight check of their models (all types), including an initial radio range check and battery checks of each model to be operated.
- Models must be properly restrained whilst starting and running of engines in the designated start-up areas. No engine start-ups or engine running is permitted within the pit area.
- Taxiing of models within the pits area is not permitted. Electric aircraft ARE NOT TO BE ARMED within the pit area. Arming of electric aircraft is to be done in the start-up areas or edge of the runway only.
- MAXIMUM FLYING HEIGHT IS 1000 FT / 330 MT
- Pilots are required to stand in the pilot’s box behind the barrier for taxiing, take-off, flying and landing.
- Whilst in the vicinity of the flight line all pilots will observe correct etiquette and check with other pilots on the flight line before commencing take-offs, landings or entering the runway via clear communications with other pilots at the pilot box. Upon exiting from the active runway pilots should inform other pilots they are clear of the runway.
- All flying to be done in a rectangular Circuit and within the Property boundary, direction will depend on the wind unless arranged and agreed on by other pilots present.
- Flying above 400 ft the pilot shall have a spotter/caller to assist in air space management. Any GA aircraft identified/seen entering the flying area, the pilot will take immediate action to avoid the GA flightpath and if required, land the model safely.
- The 30-meter rule will be enforced at all times, flying of models behind the pilot box is NOT PERMITTED. Do not ever fly behind the pilot box.
- It’s the responsibility of all club members to NOTIFY THE COMMITTEE the day of the incident or next day of any incident at the field and when the Firefighting equipment has been used.
- Any emergency situations (i.e., fire) the club field is to be vacated as quickly as possible via the safest route to exist the field. Emergency contact numbers is posted on the club notice board.
- No Domestic animals to be bought to the field.
- Speed limit to and from field on Quayles Road and Driveway is 30 kph.
- All rubbish is to be taken home with you.
- All members are expected to keep the kitchen area clean.
- No Models to be taken into the clubhouse. Models are not to be stored under the veranda.
- Last member out is to ensure the clubhouse, toilets and gate are locked when leaving.
- During General Flying days, no cars are permitted on the runways, pits, or taxiways at any times. Vehicles are to be parked within the designated Carpark only.
- Club visitor policy is as follows: A maximum of 4 visits per person outside of special events or SIG competitions is allowed per annum. Should the visitor wish to attend more than 4 times in one calendar year then they will be expected to join the NFG club in fairness to other NFG member’s.
- Should any member of another VMAA / MAAA affiliated club wish to visit the NFG club / state field to fly or to be of assistance to an existing NFG member helping with a maiden test flight, this will constitute as one visit. Any visitor must be accompanied and hosted by an existing NFG member on any given day. The NFG member will be responsible for the visitors’ activities and must ensure the visitor has full knowledge of the NFG club rules.
